Kentucky Muddy Water Blues 2024: Leading the Way in Stormwater Management and Erosion Control
The Kentucky Muddy Water Blues Conference and Field Day returned this year, bringing together industry professionals dedicated to improving water quality through advanced stormwater management and erosion control practices.
CORE Erosion Control’s team participated in this valuable two-day event, designed for those in construction, land development and environmental protection. The conference provided attendees with excellent opportunities for professional growth, networking and certification.
Hosted by the Southeast Chapter of the International Erosion Control Association (IECA), this event serves the southeastern U.S., covering Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina.
With a focus on stormwater management and sediment control solutions, the conference addressed pressing regional concerns, particularly the challenges of construction site sediment runoff—a key issue impacting water quality across Kentucky.
Sediment Control in Kentucky: A Vital Component of Water Quality Protection
Sediment control on construction sites is crucial for protecting Kentucky’s waterways. As regulatory expectations evolve, contractors, engineers and other professionals need events like this to stay updated on the latest erosion control techniques and products.
CORE Erosion Control Highlights from the Event
Day 1: Building Connections and Strengthening Relationships
On the first day of the conference, CORE Erosion Control representative TJ Agee secured two quotes with new vendors within the first hour and continued building relationships with additional vendors and current customers.
The CORE Erosion Control team stayed busy networking and managing an exhibit hall booth, showcasing the latest in sediment control solutions.
“This show is always beneficial for my territory, as it brings a large majority of my customers together in one place. It’s also a great opportunity to meet new potential buyers and to educate the engineers and installers in attendance on CORE Erosion Control products,” TJ Agee said.
Day 2: Real-World Field Day Demonstrations
Day two took the event outdoors to a reclaimed landfill site, where field day demonstrations offered hands-on learning.
At the field location, CORE Erosion Control’s team demonstrated their filled sock sediment control solution, discussing its benefits, installation methods and various applications in construction projects. The field day allowed the team to see other erosion control products in action, including new products entering the market.
“This was my first CORE Erosion Control field day, and despite the rain, cold and mud, it was an incredibly valuable experience. I learned a lot seeing our distributors set up products in a real-world environment,” CORE Sales Manager Chris Creed said.. “It was educational to observe the products’ functionality and to learn more about local erosion control regulations. This event has given us insights into how we can optimize our product displays for future field days.”
With live demonstrations covering hydroseeding, flocculant use, drainage filtration and sediment control products, the field day provided invaluable hands-on experience for everyone involved.
This conference and field day reinforced CORE Erosion Control’s commitment to providing effective, high-quality erosion control solutions that support Kentucky’s water quality and environmental protection goals.
