The Golf Course Builders Association of America (GCBAA) employs a variety of erosion control techniques to maintain and improve golf courses. This includes the use of advanced products and methods developed by industry partnersto address erosion and establish vegetation effectively.

In 1970, nine industry members met at the National Press Club in Washington D.C. They discussed their belief that supporting the future growth of golf course construction would be an honorable profession and formed the Golf Course Builders of America. In 2021 it celebrated its 50th anniversary.

One of the key strategies involves using hydraulic erosion control products like hydraulic mulch and flexible growth mediums. These materials help stabilize the soil and promote vegetation growth, which is essential in preventing erosion on golf course landscapes. For instance, hydraulic mulch is designed to bind soil particles together, reducing the risk of erosion caused by wind and water.

The association also promotes the use of vegetative establishment blankets and advanced fiber matrices. These products help in quick vegetation establishment and offer long-term erosion control solutions, ensuring the golf courses remain sustainable and visually appealing.

The GCBAA’s approach to erosion control is comprehensive, combining product innovation, member support programs and educational initiatives to maintain high standards in golf course construction and maintenance.
