Kentucky Stormwater Conference: A Crucial Event for Water Management Enthusiasts
Two CORE Erosion Control team members attended the Kentucky Stormwater Association (KSA) 2024 Annual Conference held at the Owensboro Convention Center in Owensboro, KY, from July 10-12.
This event was an essential gathering for professionals dedicated to stormwater management, offering a platform for knowledge sharing, collaboration and innovative solutions.
Founded in November 2009, KSA is a nonprofit organization comprised of municipal separate storm sewer (MS4) communities, stormwater professionals, vendors and other agencies with vested interests in stormwater management.
Initially an informal MS4 Workgroup, KSA has grown into a formal organization that supports its members through continuous training and provides a venue for open dialogue with regulators about current and upcoming stormwater regulations.
“This was a great venue to visit with my current customers and spend extended time with them.” said T.J. Agee, CORE Regional Sales Manager.
“In addition, we were able to meet face to face with potential new customers that we had only spoken with on the phone or emailed in the past. Developing personal relationships is vital to the CORE sales model”.
Breaks between seminars left ample time for the CORE team to talk about CORE Erosion Control products and educate potential buyers on the benefits of utilizing compost filter sock for erosion and sediment control.
“I was surprised at how many people are still not familiar with the use of filer sock over other sediment control methods. Providing education on the use and quality, as well as the cost and labor savings of our product, was definitely a highlight of our time at the show,” said Chris Creed, CORE Sales Manager.
Educational Sessions and Expert Panels
The conference featured a series of educational sessions and expert panels, providing attendees with insights into the latest stormwater management trends, technologies and regulatory updates. Topics ranged from green infrastructure and erosion control to flood management and water quality improvement.
Interactive Workshops and Training
Attendees had the opportunity to participate in interactive workshops and training sessions, designed to offer practical knowledge and skills applicable to their work. These sessions covered essential topics such as effective stormwater system design and sustainable practices implementation.
The conference allowed professionals to connect, share experiences and collaborate on future projects.
About the KSA
KSA’s mission is to provide a venue that brings together the resources of member organizations, government agencies, stormwater management partners and stakeholders for the exchange of information and knowledge.
This collaboration assists MS4 communities in developing smart and affordable stormwater quality management programs that meet regulatory requirements and promote a clean and healthy watershed environment in Kentucky.
The KSA’s Vision
With the active participation of member organizations and a cooperative partnership with regulatory agencies, KSA aims to be a catalyst for positive change in stormwater management, supporting thriving communities and protecting the quality of Kentucky’s waters.
The Kentucky Stormwater Conference is an invaluable event for anyone involved in stormwater management. With its comprehensive program, expert speakers, interactive workshops and networking opportunities, the conference was an enriching and informative experience for CORE team members.
